Differences Between Homeopathic and Holistic

Alternative medicines can be quite confusing to understand. Standard western medicines have become more preferred by people across the world sand we have forgotten that even the natural remedies can be so powerful. Currently, homeopathic and holistic treatments are among the most common alternative treatments. Discussions about the two treatments see people interchange the two terms. There is no similarity between the two although they are related. Whenever the two terms are mentioned, it is the treatment being discussed that should be under focus. You can learn more about how the two differentiate from each other by reading more here.

The two have some key differences between them. Holistic refers to the treatment of the whole body. It can be a blend of scientific medicine from the western countries and a whole body treatment such as acupuncture. Holistic treatments can also include homeopathy. When homeopathy is used to cure an ailment, there are two principles that are focused on. The first principle operates under the concept that “like cures like.” It is supposed that the thing that caused the disease can also be used to treat it. The treatment of a swelling by using bee venom mixture is a good example.

the second and last principle is potentization. One unit of the active ingredient is mixed with nine units of alcohol or distilled water. After completion, the medicine is called “1 x potency” and a repeat of the same process for the second mixture will be called “2 x potency. Before the desired potency is reached, there is no limit on the number of times the process can be reached. You can either drink the solution or take it as pill.

It is easier to understand how homeopathic treatments differ from holistic treatments by looking at specific examples like the homeopathic cancer treatment for dogs. The treatments used in curing insomnia, for instance, are natural but they all have different active ingredients.

A holistic cure used in treating sleep disorders is melatonin. It is a hormone that is found naturally in the human brain and it is used to regulate the sleep-wake cycle. In cases where you have jetlag or irregular schedules, it is normal to experience reduced melatonin levels when you have to go to sleep. Melatonin supplements are taken before bedtime. By increasing your melatonin levels, the supplements will help you experience more regular sleep.

Melatonin improves and individual’s sleep by increasing the levels of the naturally occurring sleep hormone. It is not all the time that homeopaths choose to follow this path. Insomnia can also be treated in other ways but, perhaps, the most common is coffea cruda. It is a dilute solution that is extracted from coffee beans. It is believed that the solution can be used to treat insomnia and anxiety.
